Faith Through the Storm

It’s Friday and all I’m hearing on the news is concerns the path Hurricane Irene.  There is a sense of trepidation as the storm moves closer to the Eastern seaboard of the United States.  Well, we should definitely exercise caution and take precautions as the storm approaches; however, we must also pray.  We serve a God who is mightier than any storm.  I’m reminded of the story of the Disciples as they were in the boat with Jesus (Matthew 8:23-27).  The storm came and it tossed the boat in such a way that the Disciples grew afraid worrying that they might die.  Can you imagine being in the boat with Jesus and being afraid?  Well, don’t be surprised if many of us would react the same way.  Besides, today Jesus is with [us] those who believe and we are often afraid (1 Corinthians 6:19).  Jesus was asleep when they woke him frantically asking him to save them.  Jesus rebuked the winds at that moment and everything was calm.  He admonished them for having “little faith.”  Be encouraged.  No matter the storms in your life, Immanuel [God is with us] — Jesus Christ, is always with us.  He can calm the winds and chase away the storms in your life if you ask him (James 4:2-3).  Seek him today and have faith – believe and it will be done (Matthew 8:13).  Be safe for this coming weekend if you’re on the East Coast of the United States.  Again, I urge all of us to pray.  If you don’t live on the East Coast, please stand with us in prayer.  Peace ~
